Geia Sou, and welcome to my website!
My name is Angel, I am 26 and I have lived in the Republic of Cyprus for my entire life. While I was born in Larnaca, I have lived in both Limassol and Nicosia during my life so far, so I feel I have a strong grasp on the country and all it has to offer. And as you may be able to tell from my blog, I love my country!
My reason for choosing the name Kalliopi for this website is two-fold. Firstly, it is my mother’s name and she is my best friend and inspiration. Mum is solely responsible for the person I am today and if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have turned out anywhere near as well as I have! The second reason is that I love the meaning of the name Kalliopi and I feel it reflects Cyprus perfectly.
Kalliopi is of Greek origin and is derived from kallos meaning ‘beauty’ and ops meaning ‘voice’. I feel this paints the perfect portrait of Cyprus, a land so beautiful and the waves crashing against the foreshore sound poetic, like a voice. In Greek mythology, Kalliope was a goddess of epic poetry and wonderful eloquence and was one of the nine muses. She would have fit in well in Cyprus!
The purpose of this website is to give both visitors and locals all the information that they need relating to Cyprus. While the major focus is on providing travel information (such as accommodation options, flight information, how to get around etc), I also intend to provide a large amount of information on activities, travel tips, and how to go about moving to Cyprus if that is indeed your intention.
I hope you enjoy the website and that you benefit from the visit. I love Cyprus so much and I hope that you will too!
Until we meet in person,
